Unmudl Teen & Guardian Privacy Policy

Welcome to Unmudl! We provide unique learning and employment opportunities for learners aged 13–17 (“Teen Learners”) with the active support of a parent or legal guardian (“Guardian”).

This Teen & Guardian Privacy Policy (“Policy”) explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information related to Teen Learners and Guardians. It works alongside our main Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

Our Commitment

We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws and child protection rules, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) where applicable.

We do not knowingly collect or store information from children under 13 years of age, and we do not permit accounts for children under 13. If we discover that an account has been created for someone under 13, we will promptly delete that information and terminate the account.

Your Consent & Guardian Verification

By creating a Teen Account and Guardian Dashboard, you confirm that you:

Understand and agree to this Policy and our main Privacy Policy.
1.3.2
Provide the valid, accurate contact information for your real parent or legal guardian, who will actively manage your account permissions.
1.3.3
Understand that your Guardian must verify and approve your account before you can access certain services.
1.3.4
Acknowledge that providing false or invalid Guardian contact information violates this Policy and may result in suspension or closure of your account.

2. Who This Policy Covers

This Policy applies to:

Teen Learners (ages 13–17) who create accounts on Unmudl.
2.2.
Their Guardians, who must actively provide consent and manage permissions through the Guardian Dashboard.

3. Information We Collect

We may collect the following information:

Basic Account Information
3.1.1
Teen Learner’s name, email, phone number, date of birth, location, and profile photo.
3.1.2
Guardian’s name, valid email, phone number, and profile photo.
3.2.
Educational & Career Information
3.2.1
Courses enrolled in and completed.
3.2.2
Skills, grades, or course progress shared by approved colleges or providers.
3.3.2
Job applications submitted and communication with employers, if permitted.
3.3.
Activity & Usage Data
3.3.1
Forum posts, reviews, ratings.
3.3.2
Guardian activity logs showing permissions granted or revoked.
3.4.
Communications
3.4.1
Emails or text messages related to enrollments, approvals, or account updates
3.5.
Payment Information
3.5.1
Payment details, processed securely by our third-party payment processor. We do not store credit card details. Our processor is PCI-DSS compliant.

4. How We Use Information

We use Teen Learner and Guardian information to:

Provide educational services, courses, and career opportunities.
4.2.
Verify identity, age eligibility, and Guardian consent.
4.3.
Enable Guardians to approve or deny enrollments, purchases, job applications, or communications.
4.4.
Track progress and store earned skills or credentials.
4.5.
Protect account security and prevent misuse.
4.6.
Comply with FERPA and other applicable privacy laws when working with partner colleges and training providers. misuse.

5. Guardian Permissions, Controls & Verification

Your Guardian Dashboard gives you tools to:
5.1.
View and monitor your Teen Learner’s activity.
5.2.
Approve or restrict courses, purchases, and applications.
5.3.
Control whether your Teen Learner can communicate directly with employers or colleges.
5.4.
Manage forum participation and community interactions.
5.5.
Provide or withdraw consent for the disclosure of educational records, as applicable.
5.6.
Receive notifications when significant actions occur, like course enrollments, job applications, or suspicious activity.
Guardian Verification:
We require every Teen Learner to provide a valid, accurate Guardian email address. We will send a verification email to confirm that the Guardian approves the Teen Account.

We take reasonable steps to verify that the provided Guardian is the real, legal Guardian. If we find that the Guardian email is fake or invalid, we may suspend or terminate the Teen Account.

6. Built-In Protections for Teen Learners

Unmudl uses industry-standard privacy and safety settings, including:
6.1.
Default private profiles for Teen Accounts.
6.2.
Limited direct messaging for users under 18, unless a Guardian approves. Direct communications with employers or colleges may be stored and monitored for safety.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell Teen Learner or Guardian information. We may share information:
7.1.
With colleges, training providers, or employers only when needed and approved by the Guardian.
7.2.
With trusted service providers who help us deliver secure services (e.g., hosting, payments).
7.3.
To comply with legal obligations or protect safety.
Guardians can manage data sharing permissions anytime.

8. Data Retention

We keep Teen Learner and Guardian information only as long as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations. For example, we may retain some records for regulatory or audit purposes for up to seven years after account closure.

Teen Accounts remain active until the learner turns 18 or until you or your Guardian request account closure.

9. Security

We protect Teen Learner and Guardian data with reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards, including encryption, secure servers, and limited employee access.We keep Teen Learner and Guardian information only as long as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations. For example, we may retain some records for regulatory or audit purposes for up to seven years after account closure.

Your account information is protected by a password — please keep it secure and report any suspicious activity immediately.

10. Your Rights

As a Teen Learner, you and your Guardian have the right to:

Access and review personal information.
10.2.
Approve or withdraw permissions.
10.3.
Correct inaccurate information.
10.4.
Request account closure or deletion, subject to verification and any legal retention obligations.
10.5.
Withdraw consent for the disclosure of educational records, unless retention is required by law.

11. When Your Teen Account Ends

11.1.
Teen Accounts stay active until you turn 18.
11.2.
At 18, your Teen Account will convert to a standard Unmudl learner account.
11.3.
Unmudl may suspend or close accounts for misuse, including providing false Guardian information, or any violation of our Terms of Use.
