Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

1. Overview and Purpose

Unmudl Public Benefit Corp. (“Unmudl,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) uses artificial intelligence (“AI”) and automated processing technologies to support and enhance the functionality of the Unmudl platform. AI is used to improve learner experiences, facilitate connections between learners, educational institutions, and employers, and support education and workforce outcomes.

This Artificial Intelligence Use Policy (“AI Policy”) explains how AI is used on the Unmudl platform, what types of data may be involved, and the choices available to learners regarding AI-powered features. This policy supplements Unmudl’s Privacy Policy and FERPA Release, and all three should be read together.

2. AI Features on Unmudl

Unmudl may use AI and automated systems to support a variety of platform features, including but not limited to:
  • Generating summaries of learner education, skills, and employment-related information
  • Recommending courses, programs, or learning opportunities to learners based on profile information and activity
  • Recommending jobs, work-based learning opportunities, or employers to learners
  • Recommending potential candidates to employers based on job requirements, skills, and qualifications
  • Improving search, discovery, and matching between learners, employers, and education providers
  • Enhancing platform operations, analytics, and user experience
AI-powered features are designed to assist users and do not replace human decision-making.

3. Data Used for AI Processing

Types of Data That May Be Used
For AI-powered features, Unmudl may process limited learner and employer-related data already available on the platform, such as:
  • Education and training history
  • Course participation, progress, and completion information
  • Skills, credentials, and certifications
  • Employment history and job-related experience
  • Job postings, role requirements, and workforce needs
  • Profile preferences and platform activity related to learning and employment

Data Explicitly Excluded
Unmudl does not intentionally provide the following information to AI systems for AI-powered features:
  • Full name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Physical address
  • Government-issued identification numbers
  • Student ID numbers or account login credentials
  • Payment or financial information

4. FERPA Compliance and Learner Consent

Unmudl’s use of AI complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • AI processing involving education records occurs only where permitted by FERPA and Unmudl policies
  • Learners who do not provide or who revoke FERPA consent will not have their education records used for AI-powered features that rely on such data
  • When FERPA consent is not granted, AI-generated summaries and related AI-driven features may be limited or unavailable
Unmudl does not disclose education records through AI features in a manner inconsistent with FERPA requirements.

5. Learner and Employer Choice and Control

  • Participation in AI-powered features is subject to applicable consent and privacy settings
  • Learners may modify their profile information and privacy preferences at any time
  • Employers control the information they include in job postings and organization profiles used for AI-based recommendations
Unmudl does not use AI to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects without meaningful human involvement.

6. Use of Third-Party AI Services

Unmudl may engage third-party service providers to support AI and automated processing functions. When doing so:
  • Data shared is limited to what is necessary to deliver AI-powered features
  • Third-party providers are contractually required to protect data and use it only to provide services to Unmudl
  • Unmudl does not permit third-party AI providers to use learner or employer data for independent purposes unrelated to Unmudl services, where contractually supported

7. Data Security and Retention

AI-related data processing is subject to Unmudl’s security and data retention practices, including:
  • Technical and organizational safeguards to protect data
  • Restricted access to authorized personnel
  • Retention of data only as long as necessary to support platform functionality and comply with legal obligations
These practices are consistent with Unmudl’s Privacy Policy.

8. Accuracy, Limitations, and Transparency

AI-powered features rely on information provided by users and partner institutions and may not always be complete, current, or error-free. AI-generated summaries, recommendations, and matches are provided for informational and assistive purposes only.

Users should review and verify information before making education, hiring, or employment decisions.

9. Policy Updates

Unmudl may update this AI Policy periodically to reflect changes in technology, legal requirements, or platform features. The most current version will be posted on the Unmudl website.
