Description

SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, creates CNC programs, machines components accurately and efficiently, and fabricates fixtures and tooling to support a variety of parts, from prototype one-offs to stocked inventory components used on equipment within the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, conceptualize, program, and produce parts using CNC milling equipment.
  • Fabricate working prototypes to support testing, validation, and process improvement activities.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, models, and specifications to set up CNC mills accurately.
  • Use CAD/CAM software to create cutting paths and program machines according to part requirements.
  • Perform quality checks to confirm finished parts meet design specifications and dimensional requirements.
  • Adjust machine settings, tooling, and cutting paths to improve efficiency while maintaining quality standards.
  • Select appropriate tools, feeds, and speeds for a variety of materials and program requirements.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, coolant upkeep, and tooling care.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Five years of experience as a CNC Programmer-Machinist or in a closely related role.
  • Knowledge of Haas controls preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • High proficiency with CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and part specifications.
  • Ability to convert drawings and models into finished CNC-milled parts.
  • High proficiency in the operation and upkeep of CNC mills; Haas experience preferred.
  • Ability to use machinist measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and depth gauges.
  • Strong math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometry.
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and self-motivated work style.
  • Ability to machine parts using a broad range of materials.
  • Ability to interact professionally with team members, internal customers, and vendors.

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to perform moderate physical activity, including somewhat strenuous daily tasks.
  • Frequent manual work involving lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. for short periods of time.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend and descend steps or stairs.

Manufacturing:

  • Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.
  • Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment.
  • Requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Must be able to walk and use hands.
  • Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively.

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Analytical, detail oriented with ability to manage time and tasks appropriately
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Highly proficient with CAD/CAM software such as Fusion 360, Solidworks, Surfcam or Inventor
  • Ability to read blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to take drawing and produce a final CNC milled part
  • Highly proficient in the running and upkeep of CNC mills (Haas preferred)
  • Ability to use all machinist measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height and depth gages
  • Ability to 2D and 3D model
  • Ability to use math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and geometry
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend and communicate in English
  • Team oriented and collaborative, self-motivated
  • Ability to reverse engineer a part, tool or component
  • Ability to machine using a broad range of materials
  • Ability to interact with team members, customers and vendors

Education & Experience

  • 5 Years' experience as CNC Programmer-Machinist
  • Knowledge of Haas controls preferred
