Course Details

Mechatronics and Robotics Maintenance: Virtual Lab is an online, self-paced course that requires approximately 40 hours to complete. It is the companion course to Mechatronics and Robotics Maintenance. This course explores maintenance and troubleshooting and gives learners virtual hands-on experience through detailed simulations. It is intended for learners with some experience who are interested in a career in an industrial and maintenance environment.

The course focuses on five key areas needed for equipment maintenance: fundamental skills, electrical systems, mechanical systems, fluid systems, and industrial systems, including robotics. After completing this course, learners will be prepared with the fundamental knowledge and skills needed to troubleshoot and maintain material handling equipment.

The course is aligned with SACA certification, and learners who successfully complete the course will have completed the coursework for one SACA microcredential. The course does not provide SACA certification; learners who wish to become certified will need to complete a SACA exam for each microcredential.

  • Motor Control Troubleshooting 1

Mechatronics and Robotics Maintenance: Virtual Lab uses content from videos, documents, and Amatrol. Learners can work at their own pace, and a learner who spends 8 hours a week will complete the course in approximately 5 weeks. Learners are assessed by a final quiz on each individual module. Learners need to achieve 80% or higher on each final quiz to successfully complete the course and will have three attempts to pass each quiz.

What You'll Learn
Define mechatronics and understand the role of maintenance in mechatronic systems. Explain essential safety procedures for the advanced industry work environment. Explain troubleshooting of electrical circuits and electric motor controls. Explain the role of pneumatics and hydraulics in mechatronics and describe fluid systems, key components, and approaches to troubleshooting. Describe mechanical power system components and demonstrate how to calculate key ratios to make system adjustments. E...
