This role leads preventive and corrective maintenance, validates control logic and alarms, manages system integrations, and partners with operations, engineering, and vendors to reduce risk, maintain data integrity, and support informed operational decisions.

Job Description

  • Serve as the technical authority for controls systems, ensuring reliable points, scaling, calibration, graphics, trends, and alarms.
  • Develop, review, and enforce SOPs, MOPs, and EOPs for control systems; govern changes to logic, configurations, and sequences of operation.
  • Lead calibration and validation of sensors and critical instrumentation, including temperature, pressure, flow, and power monitoring devices.
  • Validate system performance after maintenance, changes, and commissioning activities through functional testing, failover testing, and documented acceptance criteria.
  • Manage alarm governance, including rationalization, thresholds, suppression practices, and escalation standards, to ensure alerts are accurate and actionable.
  • Troubleshoot automation faults, communication failures, and integration issues across common protocols such as BACnet and Modbus.
  • Coordinate vendor work for controls maintenance, upgrades, and integrations; verify scope, quality, documentation, and deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records and system documentation, including as-builts, point lists, control narratives, graphics, and version history.
  • Support commissioning and integration of new assets into BMS, EPMS, and DCIM platforms with verified points, alarms, and operating sequences.
  • Analyze trends and historical data to identify anomalies, improve reliability, and support predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Partner with IT and security teams to support cybersecurity standards for BAS, EPMS, and related operational technology networks.
  • Provide technical leadership, coaching, and standard troubleshooting practices for controls technicians and operations teams.
  • Support incident response, event reconstruction, and root cause analysis with accurate data, timelines, diagnostics, and corrective actions.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives related to controls integrity, monitoring reliability, and data quality.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of experience in critical facilities, data centers, or other high-availability environments, with demonstrated controls or building automation expertise.
  • Experience leading maintenance programs, technical teams, vendors, and cross-functional work in 24/7 operational environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of BMS/BAS, EPMS, DCIM, CMMS, controls networks, field instrumentation, and data governance practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, control diagrams, sequences of operation, point lists, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis skills in mission-critical environments.
  • Working knowledge of applicable safety, electrical, mechanical, and building codes, including OSHA and NFPA standards.
  • Ability to support maintenance windows, emergency response, and on-call rotations as required.
  • Relevant trade licenses, controls/BAS certifications, CDCP, DCEP, or similar credentials preferred.
