This hands-on technical position combines electrical and mechanical expertise with preventative maintenance best practices to ensure seamless operations in a fast-paced distribution environment. You'll troubleshoot complex automated systems, install and maintain conveyor equipment, and track maintenance inventory while promoting a culture of safety and operational excellence. Beyond developing your own technical capabilities, you'll have the opportunity to mentor junior technicians and contribute to the growth and development of the maintenance team.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures, utilizing proper PPE, and adhering to Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safety standards in accordance with OEM and safety regulations.
  • Complete preventative and predictive maintenance routines on automated packaging, distribution equipment, and conveyor systems with thorough documentation in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including belts, motors, photo-eyes, sensors, relays, pneumatic systems, and robotic or electromechanical components.
  • Install, maintain, and repair automated conveyor systems and controls by reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical diagrams to diagnose and resolve system failures.
  • Maintain positive working relationships across all Operations facility departments while tracking and storing maintenance department inventory and tools.
  • Work flexible schedules including 10-12 hour shifts with standing, walking, and lifting up to 49 pounds; possible travel up to 20% as operational needs require.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience repairing material handling equipment in an industrial or distribution environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures with proper documentation practices.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and shifts including weekends, nights, and holidays to support 24/7 operations.
  • Physical ability to lift parts and tools weighing up to 49 pounds; stand and walk during 10-12 hour shifts; and perform repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and maneuvering in cramped spaces.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems, controls, and industrial automation equipment.
  • 1+ year of experience reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical drawings for troubleshooting purposes.
  • 1+ year of knowledge and application of electrical and electronic principles including input/output functions and basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order tracking, inventory management, and maintenance documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with robotic or electromechanical operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting in automated distribution or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven ability to mentor and train junior technicians while maintaining positive cross-functional relationships in fast-paced operations.

Physical Demands:

This position operates in an industrial distribution environment requiring physical stamina and dexterity. Responsibilities include standing/walking on concrete surfaces for 10+ hours, repetitive bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and twisting. Technicians must lift parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds (occasionally up to 49 pounds), push/pull wheeled equipment and carts up to 100+ pounds, and maneuver awkward or bulky equipment parts.
