Description
General Summary
Perform work requirements in an automotive manufacturing environment to meet production and
quality needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance on automotive transfer dies to improve dimensional and surface quality of stamping panels.
- Support production in the mass production of automobile panels.
- Perform corrective and predictive maintenance on automotive dies including mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems in accordance with standardized procedures.
- Operate shop machinery such as Try-Out/Spotting Presses, 5 axis CNC, break press, straight cut shear, drill press, lathe, surface grinder, and manual mill.
- Capable of welding various types of steels and metals using TIG, MIG and ARC welders.
- Knowledge of drawing, restriking, piercing, flanging, trimming and cam operations.
- Troubleshoot/repair die trim/ flange steels, clearances, die scrap cutters, and reduction of defects such as up dings and down dings.
- Must have working knowledge of micrometers, dial calipers, tape measures, dial indicators, hand grinders and hand tools.
- Remove defective components and repair; fit and reassemble parts using hand tools and verify work.
- Modify die dimensions, alignments, and clearances with welding, hand grinding and FlexArm techniques.
- Able to reverse engineer and manufacture die components within time limitations.
- Capable of trouble shooting in press repairs with urgency and minimal amount of production down time.
- Able to complete work orders/ engineering changes from planning to tryout with minimal supervision.
- Safely transport dies between die storage areas and toolroom using an overhead crane.
- Safely open, turn and flip dies using an overhead crane.
- Safely operate forklifts and other PIVs.
- Must be able to efficiently manage time and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Attend all required training as assigned.
- Comply with and promote company practices in the areas of SQECP (Safety, Quality, Efficiency, Cost, and People)

Qualifications & Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Job-related experience in a manufacturing / industrial / warehousing / distribution environment preferred
- Ability to perform physical and exertional tasks and meeting other essential position requirements including social and physical environmental factors
- Position may require occasional travel (domestic and/or foreign)
- Flexibility in working hours including ability to work day, evening and night rotating shifts, daily overtime, weekends, and holidays
- Training is voluntary – unpaid and completed outside of Team Members work hours
