From the fundamentals of flight to airframes, applications, and UAS operations and safety, the course shows how UAS/drones are meeting needs and creating opportunities in surveying and mapping, urban planning, construction management, public safety, real estate, criminal justice, archaeology, and countless other professions.

The course will focus on the basics of UAS providing you the information you need to know as you integrate this technology into your research, job, and business.

• Describe the various kinds of sUAS and their Applications.
• Identify, name and describe the form and function of the components of the different types of sUAS. Discuss the kinds of applications for which sUAS are used.
• Describe the types of sensor systems used in sUAS and compare the advantages of each type for different applications.
• Discuss the regulatory & legal requirements governing the integration of sUAS into the US National Airspace.
• Demonstrate knowledge of FAA regulations and requirements to fly sUAS in NAS.
• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of sUAS Safety & Safe Flying Practices.
• Describe and discuss the requirements and differences between Commercial and Recreational use of UAS in the U.S. National Airspace.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Requirements and Process of sUAS Mission Planning.
• Use Photogrammetric software to process sUAS imagery to generate 3D Topographic Models (DEMs), & Ortho Imagery.
