About the Role:

The Calibration Technician position involves performing scheduled maintenance, advanced troubleshooting, and servicing of specialty analytical equipment and systems specific to pharmaceutical R&D. It requires in-depth technical knowledge for complex analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibration tasks, with a particular focus on environmental chamber and life safety system calibration. Prior experience working as an analyst in a GMP/FDA-regulated laboratory and involvement in methods development is considered helpful.


What You'll Do:


  • Adherence to company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Execution of equipment calibration, maintenance, and safety procedures in compliance with GMP, GLP, and FDA regulations.
  • Documentation of all work performed to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Identification of out-of-tolerance conditions with initiation of corrective actions and documentation.
  • Training assistance for other technicians.
  • Calibration and functional checks using chemical, mechanical, and electronic standards.
  • Preparation of chemical test standards according to applicable Standard Reference Materials (e.g., NIST).
  • Monitoring standard viability and initiating corrective measures based on analytical evaluations.
  • Performing advanced repairs, upgrades, and troubleshooting beyond routine maintenance.
  • Modifying analytical equipment to better suit specific user applications.
  • Reporting atypical equipment functions or out-of-tolerance conditions and initiating corrective actions.
  • Evaluating cost-saving opportunities through task internalization, part reconditioning, and vendor changes.
  • Sourcing parts, estimating costs, and preparing requisitions.
  • Coordinating with customer staff and external contractors for calibration, repair, and maintenance agreements.
  • Performing overtime and emergency after-hours work on analytical lab equipment as needed.

What You'll Need:


  • High school diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience or training.
  • Preferred background in analytical instrumentation support.
  • Preferred three or more years of instrumentation and calibration experience.
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations, GMPs, and GLPs
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, correspondence, and memos with clarifying questions as needed.
  • Capability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
