Description

Position Highlights:

Evans Tool & Die is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer who will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs to manufacture precision metal parts. This role requires expertise in CNC machining processes, programming, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Set up and operate CNC machines to produce high-quality component parts according to specifications.

Create programs for CNC machines using CAD/CAM software.

Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure precise machining operations.

Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

Conduct quality inspections of machined parts to verify conformance to customer requirements and quality standards.

Collaborate with team members and engineering staff to troubleshoot issues and implement process improvements.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 pounds

Stamina to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods

Visual acuity and attention to detail for inspecting machined parts

Qualifications

Proven experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer in a manufacturing environment.

Proficiency in setting up and operating CNC machines, including knowledge of various machining techniques and tooling.

Strong programming skills with the ability to write and edit G-code programs.

Experience interpreting and manually editing G-Code.

Familiarity with CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, Esprit) preferred.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.

Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Willingness to provide leadership and work in a team-oriented environment.

Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

 

Required Skills

 

Working knowledge of the use of computer software to include, but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and MasterCam or similar programming software

Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills

Full knowledge and understanding of how CNC machines work

Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, ring gages and plug gages

Good knowledge of reading drawings and good understanding of geometric tolerancing

Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars and inserts used on various machines

Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job

Must be adaptable to an ever-changing working environment, competing demands, and unexpected changes to the daily routine

 

Experience Required

 

High school diploma or equivalent required

Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment, and 2 years’ experience in CNC Programming
