ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS:
- Under the direction of the shift supervisor, the shift lead monitors the entire production floor, ensuring the smooth operation of the shift. The shift lead drives safety by confirming all shift personnel are following safety and GMP guidelines. Reinforces safety protocols and supports the production team in safety. Reports near misses or any applicable safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.
- Checks material supplies (boxes, bags, tape, etc.) at the start of the shift. Assures required materials and supplies are requested and available at beginning of shift. Communicates directly with Material Handlers for materials needs.
- Following Standard Work, oversees quality checks, both White Cup and Print, checks correct sleeve counts, correct boxes and/or labels, etc. at their designated time.
- Ensures the entire shift is following break schedule and reports to supervisor any inconsistencies.
- Ensures production equipment operators (machine operators) are performing standard requirements of quality line inspections and documents quality testing. Reports any equipment defects to maintenance team.
- Accurately prepares, inputs, and process various operation reports, documents, and other administrative functions in a timely manner. Completes daily shift reports.
- Ensures all necessary production checklist, and other related documents are maintained and submitted in on a timely manner.
- Helps identify and determine causes for quality problems, equipment problems, and failure to meet production standards, communicates with maintenance personnel or shift supervisor.
- Takes time at least once per shift to coach/mentor team members.
- Oversee new team members on shifts in work assignments. Provide assistance in training all new (and temporary) team members in accordance with established training manual. Make time each day to ensure new Team members are being attended to and being treated respectfully.
- Always use and follow Standard Work.
- Be able to run the shift if needed without the support of the supervisor.
- Oversees and ensures good housekeeping and good sanitation practices are being maintained.
- Maintains good communication with shift Supervisor on production, quality and equipment problems as it relates to production floor.
- Provides supervisor with feedback regarding team members' concerns and other related production issues.
- Lead provides resources for the efficient operation of the foam packing areas including but not limited to packer assignments, coverage for absences & rest periods, overtime requests submitted to Supervisor, and adhering to the break schedule.
- Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a packer, production equipment operator, print, as Lead may be assigned lines as needed.
- Supports all current and new product demands and participates in training of new and existing team members.
- Follows and supports WinCup Values, good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
- Follows safety standards.
- Assists the Production Supervisor running the shift.
- Performs other duties as assigned by WinCup leadership as needed.
- High School Diploma.
- Experience as a Lead in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of machinery equipment, printing, packaging, and quality.
- Forklift certification required.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient in basic math.
- Ability to learn quickly and take direction to execute.
- Ability to work split shifts to support production team on nights.
- Ability to take direction, understand written documents, such as workplace rules, operating and maintenance procedures, or work instruction manuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Manufacturing Plant):

Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so that while these demands may not always apply, they should still be noted.- Team Member will frequently be required to actively listen and exchange information.
- Team Member will be required to observe and assess information in a fast paced environment.
- Requires frequent use of a production, manufacturing equipment and/or machinery.
- Will be required to frequently move/transport materials weighing up to 50 pounds which may require frequent bending, twisting and reaching motions.
- Team Member may be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
- Team Member may be required to stand for long periods up to 12 hours shifts.
- Team Member may be required to talk, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
WORK ENVIRONMENT (Manufacturing Plant):
The characteristics listed below are representative of the work environment typically encountered by an individual while performing the essential duties of a position in our manufacturing plants. Note that office positions located within our Manufacturing Plants often require some plant floor presence throughout the day so these work environment details may not always apply, they should still be noted.- Work space is one that contains moving mechanical parts.
- Requires work in an indoor manufacturing environment that may be exposed to extreme heat that is not air conditioned.
- Work environment contains loud noises and odors that may last for long periods of time or on a continual basis as well as occasional airborne particles.
- Must wear PPE while working, which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards at all times.
- Ability to work a 12+ hour shifts as designated.
- Able to work weekdays, weekends and overtime as designated.
