Role Overview

 

This role is responsible for leading and managing an assigned production unit or department to achieve operational excellence in safety, quality, and productivity. The position plays a key role in supporting manufacturing goals by directing team activities, optimizing resources, and solving operational challenges. This role matters because it ensures reliable production performance that supports customer satisfaction and organizational growth.

Responsibilities & Key Performance Indicators

 

• Ensure safety performance meets or exceeds company and department targets by enforcing safety policies, conducting audits, and promoting safe work practices on the manufacturing floor.

• Maintain high product quality standards by monitoring processes, reviewing defect data, and implementing corrective actions when needed.

• Achieve production goals related to output volume, delivery schedules, cost control, and waste reduction while supporting operational efficiency.

• Plan, direct, and monitor daily manufacturing activities to ensure resources including labor, materials, and equipment are used effectively.

• Develop, implement, and improve manufacturing schedules, workflow procedures, and workforce assignments to support operational demand.

• Analyze production, maintenance, and equipment performance records to identify root causes of issues and recommend sustainable improvement solutions.

• Lead, mentor, and evaluate team members by supporting hiring, training, performance management, and development activities.

• Collaborate with materials, engineering, quality, customer service, and other functions to align production execution with business and customer requirements.

• Manage financial awareness of operational costs and communicate how production decisions impact overall department performance.

• Drive continuous improvement and solution-focused initiatives using lean manufacturing, 5S, or Kaizen principles to improve productivity and reliability.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Minimum of four years of manufacturing production leadership experience.
  • Proven track record of managing quality, safety, and workforce performance.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations and production management systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and use measurement instruments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, coach, evaluate, and develop staff.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.

 

Key Competencies and Skills

  • Project management and operational execution
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tool design, and production principles.
  • Well-versed in relevant software (i.e., CAD, MS Office)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, or schematics
  • Strong problem solving/troubleshooting skills

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of plastic tooling and processes is a plus

Salary & Benefits

 

The salary range for this position is $[70,000]– $[93,000] annually. This range is a good faith estimate of what Hoshizaki America expects to pay for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity.
