Description
JOB PURPOSE:
The Machinist 1 will learn to plan and execute assignments using machine tools ranging from lathes to milling machines and CNC machines to enhance the productivity of our organization. This will include quality checks and monitoring machine output for the manufacturing of equipment, parts and structures in the forest products industry.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Learns to operate and maintain drill press, lathe and milling machines.
· Learns to reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, manuals and schematics to ensure accurate production.
· Learns to complete calculations quickly, such as dimensions and tolerances of materials.
· Learns to perform proper set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on projects.
· Learns to take precise measurements for cutting or shaping.
· Learns to plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
· Learns to monitor production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
· Work ethic should display honesty, integrity and a good attitude.
· Excellent coordination and mechanical skills.
· Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail, and safety.
