Course Details

Despite living in what some might call the “TikTok age”, YouTube remains a highly opportune platform for entrepreneurs, freelancers, creatives, business owners, and others, to build and connect on a deeper level with an engaged audience. In this course, you will learn how to implement effective storytelling into your video content, and, entirely from scratch, create a fully-yours and fully internet-ready YouTube video. You will develop your personal or brand voice and aesthetic through filming techniques, color correction, voiceover recording, basic animation, and more. Students unable to attend Zoom sessions can still participate. Plan on 2 to 6 hours of engagement in reading and activities per week. Students who complete assessments will be eligible for the Social Media YouTube Video Creation badge. Students who successfully complete all three social media classes may apply for prior Learning Assessment credit for BIT142 – Social Media for Professional Use.

The first and last session of this class will be online through Zoom. You will receive a Zoom invitation prior to class. You must have Zoom downloaded on your computer and have a webcam, audio (microphone) and internet to take this class. Class content during the weeks of March 27, April 3, April 10, and April 17 is asynchronous – you may work independently at your own pace.

Adobe premiere is highly recommended to get the most out of this course. Adobe Photoshop and Aftereffects will also be used in the final two weeks. It is recommended to own a camera and microphone, or a phone with video and audio recording capability.
