Course Details
This is an electrical skills course. We follow a textbook in this on line course by Richard J. Fowler entitled Electricity - Principles and Applications, 8th edition. The text book is written for students just beginning their study of electricity. No previous formal training is assumed. Only arithmetic and basic algebra are used in explaining and solving most electrical problems. A scientific calculator will be needed to solve circuit problems.
Mastery of the material in this course will aid the student desiring a position in an occupation requiring an understanding of electricity. Mastering this material will also provide the student with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue further education in electricity and electronics.
You will have several kinds of work that you must submit to pass the course. These include homework assignments, quizzes, exams and discussions.
You will be using the Internet to look up different subjects that we will be studying.
It is anticipated that you will spend 8- 12 hours each week on the course.Â
