GxP Maintenance Tech II- 2nd Shift

Job Description Summary

The GxP Facilities Technician II supports the operation and maintenance of a Vertex Manufacturing facility to ensure reliable, compliant, and safe operations where Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are applicable. This role performs routine and non-routine maintenance activities following approved procedures and work instructions within a validated CMMS (Nuvolo) to minimize unplanned downtime and maintain audit readiness. The Technician II works with moderate supervision and demonstrates growing technical proficiency across facility systems.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned work requests, preventive maintenance (PMs), corrective maintenance, and operational tasks in accordance with SOPs, work instructions, and GMP requirements.
  • Support maintenance projects and daily facility operations under the guidance of senior technicians or supervision.
  • Escort vendors and contractors, ensuring compliance with site SOPs, safety policies, and GMP requirements.
  • Perform system monitoring and respond to alarms, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate functional knowledge of building automation systems (BMS - Metasys), including basic operational sequences for facility systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting facility, equipment, or utility system issues using Good Engineering Practices (GEP).
  • Support on-call rotation for after-hours and off-shift emergency response.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safe work practices in compliance with OSHA regulations and site safety procedures.
  • Complete all assigned training, qualifications, and certifications in a timely manner (100% compliance).
  • Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities while following established procedures and documentation practices.
  • Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective actions as directed.
  • Support real-time monitoring and routine maintenance of critical utilities, including WFI, RO, pH systems, and BioKill systems.
  • Assist with PM execution and calibration activities documented and managed within the CMMS.
  • Ensure work order documentation is accurate, complete, and GMP-compliant.
  • Collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize power and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Read and interpret system and engineering drawings (e.g., P&IDs) with guidance.

Position Qualifications

  • Demonstrates an energetic, positive, "can-do" attitude.
  • Hands-on experience supporting electrical, HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing systems in a facility or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with or supporting BMS and CMMS systems.
  • Basic knowledge of GxP environments, GMP principles, and applicable safety regulations including OSHA.
  • Familiarity with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, extended periods on feet, and climbing stairs and ladders as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Exposure to MEP systems in GMP manufacturing or life sciences facilities.
  • Experience supporting maintenance activities in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical operations.
  • Interest in growing technical expertise and long-term development within Facilities or Engineering.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate's experience and qualifications.

The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role.

The compensation for the position is: $36.58 - $43.04
