Course Details
Five courses to prepare students for an entry level role in IT Support. Includes technical support fundamentals, computer networking, operating sytems, system administration, infrastructure services, security and defenses against threats an attacks. This certification has wide application with employers that have an information technology department or technological capacity.
After This Course, You Will Be Able ToUpon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Choose and install an operating system.
2. Describe how the binary system works.
3. Explain the internet and its impact on the modern world.
4. Describe the process of creating an application.
5. Describe five layer model of computer networks.
6. Describe the standard protocols involved with TCP/IP communications.
7. Explain DNS and DHCP.
8. Select tools and techniques to troubleshoot network problems.
9. Explain cloud computing.
10. Navigate Windows and Linux file systems.
11. Set up users, groups and permissions for account access.
12. Install, configure and remove software.
13. Configure disk partitions and file systems.
14. Identify common infrastructure services.
15. Manage infrastructure servers.
16. Manage network computers and users using directory services, active directory and Open LDAP.
17. Backup organization data and recover IT infrastructure.
18. Recognize benefits and limitation of encryption algorithms and techniques.
19. Describe authentication systems and types.
20. Evaluate potential risks and recommend ways to reduce risk.

This course is instructor-led, however, students may work faster if they want to complete the course in less than five months. Students will receive log-on information for Pima Community College, learning management system (D2L).
