This two-course certificate program will teach you the installation and configuration of the infrastructure that makes up a software-defined datacenter. In the first course, you will install and configure virtual machines, host hypervisors, and virtual datacenters. You will also be introduced to virtual network devices and concepts, and learn about cloud computing, hardware requirements, and virtual hardware resources.

In the second course, you will learn more advanced techniques in the configuration and management of a software-defined datacenter. Students will manage virtual machine inventories, resource management, ensuring availability and business continuity. Students will apply appropriate methodologies and techniques to configure and troubleshoot a virtual datacenter.

This certificate program has a two-week break from 6/26/2021 to 7/11/2021. 

Eligibility Restriction (Pre-Requisite)


  • Basic Network Configuration AND
  • Server Admin Fundamentals OR Linux Server Technologies

Required Skills:

  • Possess a 10th grade reading level
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
  • Knowledge of math concepts at the 8th grade level
  • Basic computer literacy

San Diego Continuing Education (SDCE) is the adult education division of the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD). As the largest provider of noncredit education in California, SDCE’s mission is to provide accessible, equitable, and innovative quality education and career training to adult students. SDCE has offered career training and other classes continuously for more than 100 years.

Founded in 1914 on the principles of inclusion and social justice, SDCE welcomes every immigrant, refugee and underserved population to fulfill educational goals. At SDCE, adult students find a fun and positive learning environment for every skill level. Students come from across 50 states and from 160 foreign countries, to learn in more than 70 free career training programs and in thousands of classes.
