Course Details
In this two-course certification program, you will learn the installation, configuration, and the management of the Linux Operating System. The first course will teach you about command line processing, user accounts and permissions, and basic shell programming. Students will be introduced to the history of Linux and the open source community, and the different distributions of Linux currently available.
The subject matter for the second course relates to installation, configuring and usage of Linux and related software applications. We will practice using Linux (Ubuntu/Debian or Fedora/Centos) in a VMWare virtual machine.

Upon successful completion of the first course, you will be able to:
1. Describe and use the different distributions of Linux
2. Demonstrate installation and upgrade of Linux Operating System
3. Demonstrate managing network configuration
4.Describe the Linux file system and manage system processes
5. Demonstrate how to create and alter directories and files
6. Describe the purpose of a shell and how they relate to the overall system
7. Demonstrate basic shell programming
8. Demonstrate command line basics
Upon successful completion of the second course, you will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the installation and configuration of server roles on the Linux Operating
System
2. Demonstrate how to use a command line interface to manage system services
3. Demonstrate how to automate and perform typical tasks using shell scripts
4. Demonstrate how to modify the network configuration to provide client access
5. Identify common security threats and apply appropriate mitigation techniques
6. Analyze common server and network misconfigurations and effect appropriate corrections

Eligibility
Required Skills:
- Possess a 10th grade reading level
- Ability to communicate effectively in the English language
- Knowledge of math concepts at the 8th grade level
- Basic computer literacy
