David Beach, Ph.D.
I have worked in the field of Higher Education for 17 years, as a Computer Information Systems faculty member and Academic Affairs Director, before retiring from Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) in September 2017. I continue to teach Computer Information Systems courses at CNM Ingenuity as a part-time instructor.
While working for CNM, I have developed curriculum and taught courses in many areas of Information Technology, including; Network Administration, System Administration, Cloud Technology, Virtualization and Cybersecurity. In addition to my faculty role, I was also the administrator of several programs including; Cisco Networking Academy, VMware Academy, and the Cybersecurity certificate program.
As Academic Affairs Director I was responsible for transfer and development of Information Technology programs for non-credit workforce development. Our team created the Cyber Academy the CNM Ingenuity, which provides fast track education in IT areas leading to industry certification, including Computer Support, Network Administration and Cybersecurity. I was also the Principle Investigator on a $3M American Apprenticeship Initiative grant from the US Department of Labor, with the responsibility of managing the grant budget and deliverables. This resulted in the creation of the New Mexico IT Apprenticeship Program (http://nmitap.org), the first Information Technology apprenticeship program in New Mexico.
My job as both an educator and director has always included networking with organizations and industry partners. As such, I sit on several boards and committees. I was the Governing Council Chairman for a local charter school, and I sit on several Academic Advisory Committees including Northern New Mexico College School of Engineering, UNM Valencia, and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute Advanced Technical Education.
