Community College Profits in the Age of COVID-19
Check out our position paper “Community College Profits in the Age of COVID-19” summarizing how community colleges can still be profitable, even in the midst of a pandemic.
Merrilea Mayo of SocialTech.ai, the parent company of Unmudl, contends that while community colleges have historically operated within their communities, it is time to offer up courses on a national scale. Enter Unmudl!
When learners have the choice between a course for free online through a site like Coursera, there is less of an incentive for students to choose to spend $1000 for the same course at community college.
Mayo’s suggestions?
- Community colleges should post courses on a national marketplace - make use of Unmudl!
- Keep delivery costs low, without sacrificing quality- such as offering flexible office hours to meet learners where they’re at even when enrollee numbers rise
Colleges must offer learners real college credit, the ability to convert non-credit to credit, and direct connections to jobs.
